Job summary We would welcome applications from existing or newly trained Consultants who have an interest in holistic elderly care and encourage applicants who are dual trained in Geriatric & General Medicine. The position is to join our Resilience service multidisciplinary team with close links to the Elderly Medicine Service.

To provide high quality inpatient and outpatient services, which are coordinated, and person centred to the population served by PAH.To lead and motivate the multidisciplinary team within his/her ward area in order to deliver effective patient-focused interventions and timely discharge planning. To create and maintain excellent working relationships with their own team, management team and external agencies such as community providers and ICBs. This includes effective communication in line with the Trust values (Respectful, Caring, Responsible and Committed). To engage fully in development of services to meet the anticipated future challenges of the ageing population. To lead on and drive forward innovations within service area. To support consultant colleagues in the department in the delivery of their services where necessary.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be dual trained in Geriatric and General Medicine in order to deliver high quality patient care at Princess Alexandra Hospital and will be responsible for the management of a group of inpatients (15-20).
The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary clinical team and the management team within his/her area and take a lead on service innovation and improvement to drive forward the delivery of services according to the changing and increasing needs of the population. This will involve close liaison with community services to develop new and innovative ways of working.

Qualifications Essential
GMC registration with licence to practice Training and experience equivalent to that required for UK CCT (or within 12 months of CCT/CESR being issued) in geriatric medicine MRCP
Desirable
ALS or equivalent Higher Degree or equivalent i.e. MD, PHD
Experience Essential
Evidence of personal practice in all areas described by the RCP curriculum Experience of guideline appraisals Participation in relevant audits Experience of literature appraisal and report writing Experience of working in multi-specialty teams in hospital Evidence of management experience or training
Desirable
Evidence of implementing relevant evidence based medicine Implementation of evidence based guidelines Participation in relevant national audits Recent published clinical research in peer reviewed journal Peer-reviewed publications
