Job summary The post holder is responsible for the operational coordination, delivery and monitoring of quality management systems, accreditation and clinical governance activity for Cardiology and Respiratory physiological services within PAHT. The role provides specialist quality and governance support to clinical and service teams to ensure compliance with Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS), Trust policies and relevant national standards, contributing to the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred diagnostic care.
Main duties of the job Maintain and develop the PAHT Quality Management System (QMS) for Cardiology and Respiratory services, ensuring that all quality documentation, policies, procedures, SOPs and records are current, appropriately controlled and accessible to staff. Act as the operational lead for IQIPS accreditation activity, supporting services through initial accreditation, surveillance and reaccreditation processes, including preparation of evidence, coordination of assessment visits and monitoring completion of actions. Coordinate a structured and cyclical programme of internal audits, assessments and quality reviews aligned to IQIPS standards, Trust policies, national guidance and regulatory expectations. Monitor compliance with quality, safety and governance requirements, identifying trends, areas of risk or noncompliance and escalating these appropriately through PAHT and Divisional governance structures. Support investigation and management of clinical incidents, near misses, service errors and patient complaints, working with clinical teams and governance colleagues to ensure timely investigation, documentation, action planning and learning. Maintain oversight of corrective and preventative actions arising from audits, incidents, inspections and complaints, tracking progress and providing assurance reports to relevant governance forums. Work collaboratively with Cardiology and Respiratory clinical leads, service managers, nursing teams and AHP colleagues to support quality improvement initiatives, pathway development and service redesign from a governance perspective. Support implementation of Trustwide governance alerts, policy updates and regulatory guidance, ensuring timely dissemination into practice and monitoring local compliance. Provide specialist advice on quality, governance and accreditation considerations relating to new services, changes to clinical pathways, equipment introduction or service expansion within PAHT. Promote a positive quality and safety culture within Cardiology and Respiratory services through engagement, support and education, encouraging staff involvement in audit and improvement activity.
