Job summary
The appointment is to commence in February 2027 for a fixed term period of 12 months due to time limited funding. FRCR or an equivalent qualification is an essential requirement for the post. This post does not award a National Training Number and is not recognised as a 'training post'. Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to registrar who completed a minimum of 5 years training in clinical radiology including subspecialist training in clinical radiology.
The proposed interview date for the post will be during the week commencing 28 September 2026.

Job description Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will work flexibly and co-operatively with other members of the team in order to provide a high quality, comprehensive service within this teaching hospital environment. They will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence and will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the department.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of application. Basic Medical Degree FRCR or equivalent
Desirable
Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview.
Research Essential
Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate Understanding the principles of research and interpretation of research findings
Desirable
Publications in Peer reviewed journals.
Personal attributes Essential
Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix) The applicant must demonstrate skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking the English language that enables effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues as set out in the GMC' good medical practice (2013).
Clinical experience Essential
Ability to work as an independent practitioner having completed a minimum of 5 years training in clinical radiology including subspecialist training in clinical radiology. The ability to undertake a broad range of Breast Radiology investigations including diagnostic & interventional procedures independently/under indirect supervision. Willingness to acquire/improve clinical skills & knowledge in Breast Imaging. Ability to report acute and elective general radiology CT imaging. Evidence of experience of working as part of a multi-professional team.

Experience of teaching medical students and resident doctors
Continuous Professional Development Essential
Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months

Proficient IT skills Knowledge of fundamental issues in Radiology Departments including IR(ME)R, Risk Management & QA
