Job SummaryYou will serve as a PLASTIC FABRICATOR LEADER in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT, COATINGS & COVERINGS SHOP of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise, performing duties such as: Demonstrating knowledge of a wide variety of plastic and elastomer materials in order to determine the materials need to use in manufacturing and repairing of items. Performing duties common to the trade such as mixing and applying adhesives to surfaces, cut fiberglass, Plexiglas, and more. Setting and operating machinery used for rubber removal such as Ultra-High water jetting tools, fixed drills, molding machines, open roll mills, and more. Ensuring that necessary materials, tools and any other supplies needed to perform work is available. Reading and Interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, and Process Instructions (P.I.). Major DutiesYou will lead a small group of workers consisting of Plastics Fabricators and Plastic Fabricators Helpers.You will report to supervisors on status and progress of work and causes of work delays.You will use various measuring instruments to cut or weigh out proper quantities of materials.You will have to be completely SHT qualified.
