About this role

Job summary

Newcastle Hospitals Skills Academy (NHSA) is the commercial training academy for Newcastle Hospitals, facilitating CPD training to internal colleagues and fee-paying learners from across the wider health-care system.

We require temporary, flexible Educators, to work via our Staff Bank, to provide online tutorial support for learners studying Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) professional qualifications.

We will be looking for Educators who are passionate about developing people to enable enhanced quality of care provision to our patients; holding high standards of education and be an advocate for evidence based educational practices.

NHSA Educators will be offered temporary education assignments through the Newcastle Hospitals Staff Bank. Initially you will be assigned to provide one-to-one online tutorial support for a small cohort of 6-12 learners studying an ILM professional qualification, this pilot assignment is expected to extend over a three-month period with a target start date in November 2026.

Main duties of the job

Specifically, this role will focus on delivering Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Leadership and Management qualifications. The post holder will need experience delivering ILM qualifications, such as leadership and management.

In addition, this role could also include designing resources and training materials to meet the learning objectives of the course.

The Newcastle Hospitals Skills Academy (NHSA) delivers CPD education and training to professionals within the Health and Care sector, one of our strategic aims is to develop a portfolio of both clinical and non-clinical CPD courses aimed at our internal Trust based customers, externally to other NHS organisations, and commercially within the wider health and care system. Courses enable the on-going professional development of our Nurses, Midwives, and Allied Health Professional workforce (NMAHP), wider workforce, and external business partners.NHSA Educators enable the NHSA to deliver a wide range of diverse courses adopting multiple delivery models, NHSA Educators will be offered temporary education assignments matching personal availability, skills and experience.The post holder will need to be a professional with significant experience, occupational competence, or demonstrate professional development within the leadership, education and training, or coaching and mentoring subject areas.It is anticipated that the role will aid in the development and deliver on a range of course modules and / or aspects of these modules from various subject areas. This will also include designing resources and training materials to meet the learning objectives of the course.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education Essential

First degree in relevant subject area Recognised teaching qualification, such as: o PGCE, Cert Ed, BEd, MEd or equivalent. o o Level 3 Award/Level 4 Certificate/Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent professional qualification

Desirable

Recognised internal quality assurer qualification, examples include: o Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. o Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice. o V1 qualification (internal quality assurance of the assessment process). o D34 qualification (internally verify NVQ assessments and processes).

Knowledge & Experience Essential

Evidence of continued professional development and maintenance of specialist knowledge within learning, education, leadership development, coaching or organisational development Experience delivering leadership and management training or education courses and programmes Experience of developing educational content, resources and learning interventions to achieve defined learning outcomes Experience of providing specialist advice and guidance to managers, leaders and staff on learning, development and educational matters

Desirable

Experience delivering education within a healthcare setting Understanding and use of Learning Management Systems Experience of delivering Ofqual regulated qualifications offered by Awarding Bodies, such as the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and City and Guilds

Skills & Abilities Essential

Ability to interpret, analyse and present complex information in a meaningful and accessible way to a range of audiences Highly developed communication, influencing and interpersonal skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to organise, prioritise and manage a complex workload
