Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Secretarial Team within Diabetes Centre as a Band 2 Administration Assistant. Post holder will be required to provide an efficient administrative service to the clinicians and their teams.
The successful candidate will work within a team of secretarial staff, but also have the ability to work independently. They will be required to follow Policies and Procedures.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility, reliability and must have an organised approach to work.

Main duties of the job
This role involves working closely with patients, medical and nursing staff. Post holders will be required to provide an efficient administrative service
The role will include:
Keeping typing up to date for the clinical team
Opening and distributing post
Making ad-hoc appointments
Ad-hoc admin duties as requested by the clinical team
Talking to patients over the telephone and ensuring their queries are dealt with efficiently

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education Essential
Good standard of English, grammar, punctuation and spelling at GCSE or equivalent level
Desirable
ECDL computer qualification
Knowledge & Experience Desirable
Previous experience working within the NHS Knowledge of the eRecord System
Skills & Abilities Essential
Good communication and interpersonal skills Effective organisation and time management skills Keyboard skills IT skills
