CNC Operator - 1st or 2nd Shift - Otay MesaJob DescriptionThe CNC Operator sets up and operates 3-axis CNC mills to produce precision parts and gaskets used in composite sealing systems, primarily for aerospace applications. You begin in the deburr area to learn blending and finishing techniques, then transition to CNC machines aligned with your prior experience. You work with a variety of metals, perform basic quality inspections, interpret blueprints, and may support additional operations such as assembly and rubber molding. This role offers exposure to multiple machines and processes in a clean, safety-focused manufacturing environment.Shifts Available 2nd Shift - 2:30 PM - 11 PM Essential Skills
• At least 6 months of CNC operating experience, specifically with Haas, Mori Seiki, or Fadal machines. • Proven ability to set up and operate CNC 3-axis mills. • Experience with Haas, Mori, or Fadal machines • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. • Experience deburring and blending metal parts. • Proficiency using measurement tools. • Comfort working with metals including aluminum, copper, brass, carbon steel, and chromalloy. • Basic understanding of CNC operations, including loading parts, initiating programs, and monitoring machining. • Attention to detail in inspecting and measuring parts for correct dimensions and defects. Responsibilities
• Start in the deburr area for approximately three weeks to learn and demonstrate proper deburring and blending of metals. • Set up and operate CNC 3-axis mills, including Mori Seiki and Fadal machines. • Load parts into CNC mill machines, select and initiate the appropriate program or controls, and monitor machining operations. • Mill and drill parts to specification, including milling out gaskets and grooves for rubber seals. • Work with aluminum, copper, brass, carbon steel, and chromalloy materials. • Inspect parts using measurement tools to ensure quality. • Read blueprints and follow work instructions. • Identify defects, tool wear, or machining issues. • Help with deburring, tumbling, assembly, and other shop tasks when machines are running. • Operate rubber molding equipment when assigned. • Maintain productivity, safety, and cleanliness in the shop. • Work independently and as part of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Familiarity with G and M codes for CNC programming and operation. • Experience in grinding, finishing, and deburring metal components. • Experience using timesaver or similar finishing equipment. • Ability to operate rubber molding machines, including handling molds and metal frames. • Comfort working in a production environment with paperless setup sheets and digital work instructions. • Team-oriented mindset with willingness to support deburr, tumbler, assembly, and other machine shop areas as needed. The facility includes a machine shop, molding, bonding with machine presses, and warehouse areas. You work on 2nd shift from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with overtime available when needed. The shop uses CNC 3-axis mills such as Mori Seiki and Fadal, rubber molding machines, and a range of precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, drop gages, and depth mics. The workplace is described as very safe and clean, with a strong emphasis on organization and teamwork across shifts that include dozens of colleagues in machining, molding, bonding, and warehouse operations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
