Job Title: Panel AssemblerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on wiring and building electrical control panels, junction boxes, and related subassemblies according to detailed customer specifications. You will interpret electrical schematics and blueprints, perform precise mechanical and electrical assembly, and ensure all panels meet quality and safety standards. The position follows a daytime schedule, working Monday through Friday in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Wire and build electrical control panels, junction boxes, and subassemblies in accordance with customer requirements and internal standards. • Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders, and bills of material to plan and complete panel assembly work. • Drill, ream, or tap holes in panels and enclosures to mount control units or to provide openings for components, wiring, or instruments. • Perform complete point-to-point wiring of control panels and install a wide variety of electronic components, including PLCs, relays, indicator lights, switches, and related devices. • Utilize a variety of small hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, tape measures, hex keys, drills, and saws to perform assembly tasks. • Work with various wire gauges, types, and sizes to route, terminate, and secure wiring harnesses and components in an organized and safe manner. • Perform mechanical installation and electrical wiring for control panels and desks, including mounting components and ensuring proper grounding where required. • Carry out operations such as deburring, grinding, and sawing to prepare and finish parts and panels to specification. • Install finished assemblies or subassemblies into cases, cabinets, or enclosures, ensuring correct fit, alignment, and labeling. • Operate hand pallet jacks to move materials and completed assemblies within the plant safely and efficiently. • Use and update documentation as necessary to support engineering changes and continuous improvement processes. • Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area. • Stand for extended periods, lift materials and products up to 30 pounds regularly, and perform physical movements such as squatting, bending, and reaching as needed to complete assembly tasks. • Collaborate with team members, communicate issues or discrepancies, and work both independently and as part of a small team to meet production goals. • Be available to work overtime as needed to support production schedules. Essential Skills • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and bills of material. • Experience wiring and building electrical control panels, including prior hands-on control panel assembly experience. • Proficiency in working from blueprints and schematics to complete electrical and mechanical assemblies. • Experience with wiring harnesses or components and working with various wire gauges, types, and sizes. • Familiarity with ladder logic schematics. • Experience with drilling and tapping sheet metal and using hand tools for drilling, tapping, and assembling electrical panels. • Ability to operate and confidently use basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, tape measures, Allen wrenches, hex keys, drills, and saws. • Understanding of electrical currents and fundamental electrical concepts relevant to control panels. • Ability to read and write in English to follow work instructions and documentation. • Capability to stand for long periods and regularly lift materials up to 30 pounds. • Reliable transportation to maintain consistent attendance. • Availability to work overtime when required. • Comfort working in a manufacturing or assembly environment with machinery and standard safety practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications • High school diploma or GED. • Experience working in manufacturing or assembly environments. • Experience with electro-mechanical assembly and grounding techniques (preferred but not required). • Proficiency using a tape measure to take accurate measurements. • Prior experience with mechanical assembly tasks or working with extrusion-type components. • Ability to squat, bend, reach, and perform other physical movements required for assembly work. • High level of attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. • Motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment. • Comfort working with ladder logic schematics and PLC-related components. • Willingness to obtain function-specific certifications such as lockout/tagout and fork truck certification, if required. Work EnvironmentYou will work in small teams within a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility. The role involves frequent lifting of materials and products up to 30 pounds, regular use of hand tools, and long periods of standing throughout the shift. Working conditions are typical for a manufacturing environment, with active machinery and material handling equipment in use. You will use safety equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, and hard hats as required. Safety shoes are required at all times in the manufacturing plant, and loose-fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted for safety reasons. Additional personal protective equipment may be required for tasks involving drilling, tapping, deburring, cutting, testing, lifting, and moving materials. Function-specific certifications, such as lockout/tagout and fork truck certification, may be required depending on assigned duties. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime as needed. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Fond Du Lac, WI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
