Job Title: CNC Machinist – Multi-Axis Lathe and 4–5 Axis MillJob DescriptionThis role focuses on operating and setting up multi-axis lathes and 4–5 axis mills to machine forged and complex aerospace components. You will work with a variety of advanced CNC machinery, perform precise setups, and contribute to the production of high-quality parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Operate multi-axis CNC lathes and 4–5 axis CNC mills to produce forged and complex aerospace parts to specification. • Perform complete machine setups on multi-axis lathes and 4–5 axis mills, including loading tools, setting offsets, and verifying programs. • Run mixed machinery, including 4 and 5 axis mills, lathes, and a 6 axis mill, as production needs require. • Interpret and follow machining instructions, programs, and setup documentation to ensure accurate part production. • Monitor machining operations, make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy, and ensure consistent part quality. • Assist with or perform CNC programming and editing as needed to optimize machining processes. • Inspect parts during and after machining to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow all shop safety procedures. • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining issues and improve processes. Essential Skills • Proven experience operating multi-axis CNC lathes. • Proven experience operating 4–5 axis CNC mills. • Hands-on experience performing setups on CNC lathes and mills, including multi-axis equipment. • Ability to machine forged parts and complex aerospace components with high precision. • Experience working with mixed CNC machinery, including 4 and 5 axis mills and lathes, and exposure to 6 axis mills. • Practical understanding of CNC programming concepts sufficient to run and adjust existing programs. • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machining processes. • Ability to read and follow machining instructions and setup information. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience machining in an aerospace or similarly high-precision environment. • Comfort working with a variety of CNC machines and adapting to different setups and part requirements. • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adjust processes to improve accuracy and efficiency. Work EnvironmentThis is a hands-on manufacturing role in a machine shop environment that uses mixed CNC machinery, including 4 and 5 axis mills, multi-axis lathes, and a 6 axis mill. The position follows structured shift schedules with two primary options: Monday through Thursday from 3:15 p.m. to 1:45 a.m., or Friday through Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Swing shifts include hourly differentials for eligible shifts. The work involves standing for extended periods near CNC equipment, handling metal components, and working around typical shop noise and machinery. Safety practices and appropriate shop attire are required at all times. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fife, WA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
