Instructor or Higher (Orthopaedic Surgery)
Position Description: Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching and service, some variation by academic unit.
Major/Essential Functions: • Supervises and teaches residents and medical students in classroom and clinical settings. • Works in close conjunction with Orthopaedic department chair and PM&R faculty to develop a long-term PM&R division strategic plan. • Provides patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings affiliated with a Level 1 Trauma Center • Performs outpatient procedures including injections, ultrasound, and EMG. • Develops rehabilitation protocols at the UMC of El Paso Hospital for patients requiring rehab services • Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship. • Serves the academic community through participations with committee work and other administrative duties • Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission • Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures • Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility • Upholds and promotes the value-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso
Preferred Qualifications: • Bilingual in English/Spanish • Board certification by the American Board Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher • Emerging or established regional or national reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

Required Qualifications: • M.D. or D.O. Degree • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation • Texas medical licensure or eligibility for medical licensure in Texas
