QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing technical support to weight handling equipment programs via detailed technical specifications, written technical work documents, calculations, and troubleshooting practices in support of oversight, planning, maintenance, repair, acquisition, installation, and operations within a lifting and handling organization. Major DutiesYou will provide specialized engineering expertise in Weight Handling Equipment (WHE)/Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to support lifting and handling maintenance, procurement, and operational requirements for the command.You will identify and resolve complex mechanical problems and provide critical rigging solutions related to mechanical systems, including hydraulics, hoists, brakes, wire rope, sheaves, diesel engines, transmissions, rigging support, and hooks.You will provide engineering direction related to maintenance and rigging requirements and troubleshooting, design, repair, and as required, along with procurement of systems and rigging equipment.You will perform and oversee on-site detailed inspections, troubleshooting and tests of WHE to determine scope and complexity of maintenance, repair, alteration, and design and procurement projects.You will prepare work instructions, alteration requests, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and other related manufacturing/fabrication/assembly drawings, supporting calculations, specifications, process instructions, and design documentation.You will provide engineering assistance when troubleshooting mechanical problems on cranes.You will provide engineering support and guidance in the resolution of installation, maintenance, operation and environmental/safety problems with lifting and handling equipment throughout the command and other naval installations.You will develop, direct, and schedule projects critical to the long-term mission of the command in the areas of the lifting and handling equipment.You will evaluate weight-handling requirements by analyzing capacity limits, operational parameters, and safety/environmental criteria.
