Job SummaryYou will serve as SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Diesels Branch (Code 264) of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTERSOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical oversight, administrative, and repair support to shipboard main propulsion systems and equipment relating to engineering to ensure compliance with regulation design, maintenance, safety and operations on U.S. Navy vessel equipment/systems. Major DutiesYou will responsible for technical and repair support of diversified and complex shipboard systems relating to Engineering Systems.You will display a thorough knowledge of Main Propulsion Shafting, Reduction Gears, supporting lubricating oil and cooling water systems, and related engineering technical disciplinesYou will liaison with other Naval Shipyards, private contractors and equipment manufacturers in order to keep abreast of the latest technology, exchange technical information and assist in resolving any complex technical matters.You will arrange for assistance from other commands or contractors when workload precludes accomplishment by SWRMC.You will plan, work and assign tasks to subordinates within their areas of specialization, indicating general nature of problem and priority in relation to other tasks.You will coordinate background investigations, research into complex engineering equipment and systems and problems which require a competent solution to enable a ship to meet overhaul, operational, or deployment commitments.You will provide engineering guidance to junior technical personnel.
