Job SummaryYou will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC) Detachment, Sasebo Design Branch (Code S245) Engineering and Planning Division (EPD-Code S200) of NAVAL SHIP REPAIR FACILITY. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. QualificationsIn addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience planning, programming and managing ship repair and modernization engineering activities; providing technical leadership, engineering program development and evaluation; implementing and enforcing technical authority policy; development and adjudication of Departure From Specifications (DFS). Major DutiesYou will be responsible for a broad range of assignments in managing and overseeing activities within S245, including implementing and enforcing policy and providing authoritative technical decisions and guidance.You will provide quality engineering product that are technically sound, produced in accordance with technical requirements and meet required deadlines.You will provide professional and technical leadership assistance in resolving systemic and unusually complex technical problems.You will arrange training for employees to ensure they meet training requirement in order to successfully accomplish required work responsibilities.You will provide technical oversight and guidance for initiation, research, determination and documentation of various engineering products.You will conduct technical reviews of repair drawings to ensure feasibility, compatibility with other systems and other ongoing work.You will review, analyze and provide resolutions to a wide variety of engineering issues encompassing the following engineering discipline: mechanical, electrical, structural/hull, electronic and material engineering.You will ensure most accurate and prompt responses to engineering requests are obtained in support of repairs and modernization of U.S. Naval vessels.You will make recommendations for modifications of organizational functions to cope with changing workload trends and requirements.
