Job SummaryYou will serve as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Division of the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Department (OSHE) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST directing shipyard/industrial safety programs. Skilled in evaluating complex hazards, implementing diverse engineering controls (ventilation, PPE, waste), reviewing new work processes, authoring technical documents, and advising diverse stakeholders on critical safety issues. Major DutiesYou will serve as a Branch supervisor responsible for ensuring Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements are fully implemented.You will be responsible for identification, analysis, and evaluation of a variety of hazards for over 5000 persons in more than 200 occupations.You will plan and control employee assignments to ensure a satisfactory degree of quantity and quality of work is performed.You will advise, correct and instructs employees on work and administrative matters.You will be directing immediate corrective action or control actions to be taken under emergent conditions involving safety and health.You will supervise the professional and technical work of subordinate workers.You will develop and conduct safety training for new employees, apprentices, Shipyard supervisors, etc. and develop content for ongoing safety promotions, such as: safetygrams, Shipyard Log articles and safety alerts.
