The Bensalem Township School District is seeking a Long-Term Substitute: Certified School Nurse for the 2026–2027 school year. POSITION GOAL: To maintain and/or improve the health status of students, thus enabling them to profit fully from their educational experiences; and to promote optimum health status and lifestyles for all students through joint efforts of the home, school and community. SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• Certification as Educational Specialist by PA Department of Education
• Current CPR certificate, updated yearly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Applies appropriate nursing theory as the basis for decision making in the school setting.
• Establishes and maintains a comprehensive school health program following state guidelines and school district policy and practice.
• Develops individualized health plans for designated students using the nursing process.
• Collaborates with other professionals in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and other school health activities.
• Assists students, families, and groups in achieving optimal levels of wellness through individual and group health education.
• Participates in peer reviews and other means of evaluation to assure the quality of nursing care provided for students and assumes responsibility for appropriate continuing educational and professional development.
• Participates with other members of the community to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate school health services and community services.
• Contributes to nursing and school health through innovations in theory and practice and participation in research.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or necessary for the efficient operation of the school district.
