Job SummaryYou will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC SUPV I in the Crane Maintenance Division (Code 730) of the Production Resource Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE??????? Providing training for workers under your leadership, correcting improper heavy mobile equipment mechanic work methods. Ensuring work process and related instructions to the shipyard are being followed. Utilizing broad knowledge in heavy mobile equipment and systems as related to shipyard work. Overhauling, rebuilding, repairing heavy mobile equipment as related to the shipyard, or naval vessels. Taking appropriate actions to prevent or overcome bottlenecks, equipment and power breakdowns. Major DutiesYou will exercise supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing heavy mobile equipment mechanic and/or mixed trade work.You will be responsible for the quantity and quality of the work performed by subordinates.You will be responsible for carrying out EEO policies and communicating support of these policies to subordinates.You will deliver cost, schedule, and quality performance to customers.You will establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences.You will effectively communicate work assignments to subordinate work leaders journeymen.
