Job SummaryYou will serve as a PURCHASING AGENT in the NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.

QualificationsApplicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: 1. A thorough understanding of acquisition regulations and procedures to carry out procurement assignments. 2. Supply Requirements: Knowledge of general supply requirements. 3. Procurement Methods: Familiarity with various sources of supply and purchase procedures, including Blanket Purchase Agreements, GSA and VA Federal Supply Schedules, requirements contracts, and Purchase Order methods 4. Market Research: Ability to conduct market surveys to identify supply sources, obtain price quotations, and assess potential suppliers. 5. Communication: The ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with vendors, departments, and co-workers to handle inquiries and procurement actions. 6. Computer Proficiency: Skill in operating a computer for data entry and retrieval. 7. Typing: Skill of a fully qualified typist to prepare procurement documents and other correspondence. Major DutiesYou will be responsible for making purchases in a wide range of standard commercial market utilizing a variety of procurement methods with considerable independence.You will purchase technical items such as parts and components needed for maintenance, overhaul, and repair of Air Conditioning equipment, specialized machinery.You will Analyze procurement request to ensure the completeness of specifications, funding, required authorization, and approval.You will electronically enter required information into the PRF system and submits to requiring office authority for approval and further processing.You will verify order delivery and returns inaccurate shipments. Incumbent maintains a log of all purchases made for monitoring and tracking purposes.
