Job SummaryYou will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the WATERFRONT SUPPORT DIVISION, ENGINEERING and PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience with fundamental skills in a variety of disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, electronic engineering and naval architecture associated with the design and overhaul and repair of submarines. * Experience with pertinent policies, regulations, procedures and overall plans and objectives of Naval Shipyard design functions. * Experience in planning, organizing, and directing large-scale work assignments. * Experience evaluating the performance of the Trouble Desk requirements and recommending organizational changes. Major DutiesYou will direct the functions of the Trouble Desk and staff of mechanical or electrical/electronics engineers and technicians.You will provide coordination with other shipyard codes for the prompt resolution of waterfront problems outside the capability of the Waterfront Trouble Desk.You will direct and coordinate the establishment of new policies, instructions and procedures for the analysis, progress, and control of the workload of the Trouble Desk.You will provide review of work accomplished by employees; evaluating their performance; and make decisions on engineering or other problems presented by the Operations Department for the assigned ship's availability's.You will write correspondence to identify potential technical issues for ship repair or maintenance projects.You will brief management officials on the progress towards achieving engineering project objectives.You will provide engineering services to manage the Engineering and Planning effort for Refueling overhauls.
