The post holder will work without direct supervision and will take charge of the ward/department in the absence of the ward/department manager, who holds continuing responsibility. Key responsibilities will include the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, effective leadership and staff management/development. The post holder will always work within the NMC's Code of Professional Conduct.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work as a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager within HO/TYA Day Care Unit. The post is 7 days a week at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool.

The post will provide support to the Matron, Ward Manager registered nurses and the multi-professional team. Excellent communications skills and clerical skills are essential. Individuals should be committed, motivated and compassionate to complement the existing team.You will be encouraged to expand and develop your knowledge, skills and competencies within a supportive and friendly environment.

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse, current NMC registration Chemotherapy giver

Desirable

Post registration qualification in speciality Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent

Knowledge and Expertise Essential

Innovative and enthusiastic High level negotiation and influencing skills Ability to develop, plan and implement short and long term goals Ability to cultivate positive relationships with teams to enable effective communication at times of significant operational pressure

Experience Essential

Evidence of management experience Evidence of change management Application of evidence based practice Evidence of developing high standards of patient care Lead Role in education of staff and patients Haem Onc experience
