<div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Summary</H2> </div><div><p>Neurosurgery is seeking a highly motivated Medical Assistant who is comfortable utilizing technology to engage with patients and providers.</p> <p> </p> <p>As a Medical Assistant, you will provide support to clinicians and patients before and after their appointments, and will work directly with multiple providers provide high quality patient care. </p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Job Duties</H2> </div><div><ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li>Confirms patient appointments 1 – 2 weeks out by ensuring patients receive new patient paperwork to complete prior to appointment and are aware to bring any medical records that are relevant to their visit.</li> <li>Ensures that patients are scheduled with the appropriate provider. </li> <li>Obtains referring provider information and requests relevant medical records and referrals prior to appointment as needed.</li> <li>Displays proficiency in ability to successfully obtain vital signs.</li> <li>Schedules and assists with in-office procedures.</li> <li>Manages high volume patient clinics and calls.</li> <li>Answers patient calls in a competent, professional and timely manner.</li> <li>Assists clinicians with medication refills and prior authorizations as needed.</li> <li>Assists clinicians with imaging orders and prior authorizations as needed.</li> <li>Assists clinicians with medical record review to determine scheduling needs of patient.</li> <li>Frequently utilizes electronic health record (Epic) in interactions with patients and referring provider offices for documentation.</li> <li>Frequently utilizes electronic health record (Epic) to upload patient records.</li> <li>Frequently utilizes imaging software (PACS) to upload images.</li> <li>Demonstrate effective communication, time management, teamwork, organization, multi-tasking and professionalism skills in all aspects of role.</li> <li>Assists with coverage in all areas of the practice as needed.</li> <li>Performs other job-related duties as needed.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Minimum Qualifications</H2> </div><div><ul> <li>High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.</li> <li>Two years of relevant experience.</li> <li>Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, AAH, AAMP, or NPS).</li> <li>Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.</li> </ul></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><H2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px">Preferred Qualifications</H2> </div><div><ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li>1 year experience in specialty practice.</li> <li>Previous experience using electronic health records.</li> <li>Previous experience scheduling/assisting with procedures, utilizing a C-ARM and autoclave.</li> </ul></div></div></div><p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Work Authorization Requirement:</strong></p> <p><strong>This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.</strong> Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout the duration of employment. </p> <p> </p> <p>Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <h6><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;color:dimgray"></span></h6>
