St Leonard's Hospice is recruiting a Management Accountant to join their small Finance team to deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial information. This role is essential in helping the Hospice make informed decisions that maximise resources and support high quality patient care.
This is a full-time position based on-site at our main hospice site, working 37.5 hours per week in office hours, Monday to Friday. The salary band for this role is £40,190 - £48,396 per annum dependent on experience.
Main duties of the job
This is a new role at the Hospice and as Management Accountant your main priorities will be to:
Produce monthly management accountsSupport budget holders with analysis and queriesAnalyse financial performance and contribute to strategic financial planning
This is a great time to join the team as we have recently undertaken a digital transformation project and as part of this a new finance system has been introduced. There will be an opportunity to work with the Head of Finance to continuously improve this system along with other processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

The Management Accountant will support the Head of Finance in delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information. Be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, supporting budget holders with analysis and queries, analysing financial performance, and contributing to strategic financial planning.
Main duties and responsibilities
Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring all accounts are reconciled with up to date and accurate information.Support the Finance Officer and Finance Administrators with complex queries and reconciliations.Support budget holders by preparing analyses and responding to queries.Support the Head of Finance in forecasting processes, preparing income, expenditure, and cashflow projections.Assist with annual budget preparation, working collaboratively with managers to develop realistic and sustainable financial plans.Monitor restricted and designated funds, ensuring compliance with donor intentions and charity accounting standards.Support the preparation of yearend accounts, working with auditors and ensuring accurate reconciliations.Support the Head of Finance in continual improvement of financial systems and processes, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.Provide financial analysis to support business cases, service development, and strategic decision making.Support the operation and management of the Hospice payroll system and pension schemes. Ensure the Hospice meets all its statutory payroll and pension obligations and responsibilities.Support with optimising the management of data external to the finance system.Deputise as necessary for the Head of Finance.Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, charity SORP, internal controls, and Hospice policies.

Competent user of Microsoft Word & Excel with good keyboard skills

Qualifications Essential
Part qualified or fully qualified accountant - ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent
