About this role

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, technically skilled and caring Therapeutic Radiographer to join our well established Radiotherapy team at University Hospital Dorset - Poole Hospital.

Our radiotherapy service has a wide range of different modern, tattooless techniques with a strong commitment to both patient care and staff development, including a well-developed competency and preceptorship program to help new staff integrate into the service.

Our department uses the four tier structure for radiographers and you would be working along side radiographers which are developing to band 8b.We offer regular opportunities for educational funding (such as MSc modules) as well as possible paid attendance at conferences both nationally and internationally. (such as ESTRO)

The department has a fleet of Linacs to Varian True Beams, two Philips Big Bore CT scanners. Orthovoltage and Brachytherapy service. We have Implemented Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy.

The department is a reference site for 3 manufactures in the field of radiotherapy, often hosting visits to help other departments develop.Our oncology management system is Mosaiq and our planning system Eclipse.Poole also runs a satellite radiotherapy service in the neighbouring town of Dorchester where we operate one of our four Linacs.

This role requires HCPC Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer.

Base Location: Poole Hospital and rotation to radiotherapy at DCH

Main duties of the job

Full time staff currently work their contracted hours over 4 days and are given a rolling day off each week. Shift patterns include on-call at Poole and rotations to our satellite department at Dorchester. We also cover an emergency on call service on weekends.

Applicants must be educated to DCR(T)/BSc Hons or equivalent and be registered with the Health Professions Council and have post qualification experience.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

HCPC registration as a therapeutic radiographer BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent accredited programme

Desirable

Formal evidence of post registration study

Experience Essential

Minimum 18 months post registration experience of using sophisticated radiotherapy equipment. Treating patients using advanced techniques and competence in IGRT and IMRT technologies. Evidence of continuing education and professional development

Desirable

Participation in the delivery in a range of specialised techniques, i.e , IGRT, IMRT, vDIBH, SGRT Demonstrate experience in using equipment associated with pre-treatment including CT scanners, virtual simulation software and clinical mark up

Skills Essential

Lead and motivate team members Be an effective communicator across the multi-disciplinary team using both written and spoken English; Able to demonstrate ability and willingness to take decisions and problem solve.
