About us
The One Dorset Procurement Service (ODPS) is a bold new initiative uniting the procurement functions of Dorset County Hospital, Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust, and University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. The ODPS will deliver a single, shared procurement and supply chain service that enhances value, efficiency, and sustainability across Dorset.
The three Partner Trusts have developed a new Procurement Target Operating Model for Dorset - a single shared procurement function hosted by UHD, but accountable to all three through a Procurement Delivery Board. Such an arrangement builds on strong foundations within the partner Trust Procurement teams, generating substantial savings on third-party expenditure and delivering service improvements for clinicians, suppliers and patients.
The scope of the new service will encompass all strategic and operational procurement activity across the three partner Trusts, plus all supply chain (inventory management and logistics) services.
The joint spend for the three trusts is more than £800million, with £373m identified as addressable and opportunities to deliver £29m of savings over five years. The structure, processes, systems and governance will align to support a pan-Dorset ICS approach under the guidance of a new Procurement Director, who will establish effective leadership, culture and values, creating a world class collaborative procurement function.
