Job summary Are you ready to be part of a once-in-a-generation transformation helping to deliver outstanding surgical care for the population of Dorset by shaping the Future of Perioperative Care at UHD?

Join us at this exciting time of expansion and transformation by joining our Theatre departments. We have vacancies in multiple specialities across all areas of practice in our theatre departments (Scrub, Anaesthetic and Post Anaesthetic Care).

This transformation is delivering new, state-of-the-art theatre facilities including an innovative four-table 'barn' theatre, one of the first of its kind in the UK, and significant investment in the future of Robotic surgery.

We are currently expanding our services and staffing establishment in line with the transformation of services across UHD. This is an exciting period of growth and we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals across a range of experience levels to join our friendly and supportive Theatre teams. We are looking for individuals who are:

Passionate about delivering high standards of patient care Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment Strong team players with excellent communication skills Flexible and able to committed to supporting a 24/7 service

Main duties of the job

Provide high-quality care across multiple Specialities including; Scrub in Vascular, Emergency, General, Urology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Trauma, Head and Neck, Obstetrics and Robotic Surgery, Anaesthetic Practitioner (Additional Qualification required) Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (formally Recovery) Work within a24-hour, 7-day theatre service, participating innight shifts,weekend rotas, andbank holiday coverage.

About us

UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services will move site this year. permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.

This service has a planned move from July 2026 moving all elective to a single site and emergency, paediatrics and major surgery to the RBH site

If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.

Qualifications Essential

NMC registered Nurse (Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing) or . HCPC registered ODP (Dip (HE) Operating Department Practice)

technical skills Essential

Able to work unsupervised and on own initiative . Able to integrate and work within the MDT . Supportive of staff/team members

Desirable

able to communicate effectively in an MDT

other requirements Essential

Flexible working pattern to meet demands of the service . Adaptive to unpredictable workloads. able to work 24/7

Desirable

Prioritisation skills

personal attributes Essential

Highly motivated . Patient focussed . Professional approach . Effective role model . Flexible to the needs of the service . Recognises stress in self and others and manages appropriately

Desirable

Situational awareness and management of self and others (Human Factors) Able to adapt to changes, particularly emergency situations, calmly and effectively

Experience Essential

Experience of caring for patients with acute and long term conditions . Working under pressure with frequent interruptions

Desirable

Experience in Scrub, Anaesthetics or PACU

Knowledge Essential

Understanding of the surgical patient pathway through the hospital

Desirable

Conversant with WHO safety checklist
