2 Locum Consultant Posts in Pain Medicine

1 WTE fixed-term appointment for 12 months from commencement date

1 WTE fixed-term appointment until 31st March 2027 Applications are invited for two Locum Consultants in Pain Medicine to join the team of Consultants at Whipps Cross Hospital.

The successful candidates will need to demonstrate commitment to teamwork with colleagues, develop clinical care pathways in the overall management of Pain patients.

Main duties of the job

The acute and chronic pain teams work together to provide support for ward referrals and in supporting our Clinical Nurse Specialists in running our PCA/NCA and epidural services. The post-holders are expected to be flexible and amenable to this commitment.

There is potential to participate in our weekend trauma service

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Full GMC Registration FRCA or equivalent SIA in Pain Medicine (or equivalent).

Desirable

Evidence of extended Advanced Pain training beyond 12 months FFPMRCA Completion Academic distinction/prizes Experience of UK healthcare system

Experience Essential

Appropriate evidence that the candidate is experienced enough to operate at Consultant level in a busy DGH environment.

Desirable

Evidence of experience in interventions for both noncancer and cancer pain Experience in Hospice Work Independent clinical practice in Neuromodulation

Knowledge Essential

Multidisciplinary chronic pain management.

Desirable

Expertise in Regional Anaesthesia Expertise in Perioperative Medicine Additional postgraduate qualifications which enhance knowledge and ability to provide holistic Acute & Chronic Pain patient care

Skills Essential

Ability to communicate clearly and intelligently in written and spoken English Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team, make decisions and exert appropriate authority. Ability to build strong and effective relationships with patients, relatives and colleagues Ability to cope with pressure and adapt to change

Desirable

Leadership skills appropriate to leading a multidisciplinary team Directing and teaching medical, nursing and other professionals

Other Essential

Involvement in teaching undergraduates, junior medical staff, nurses and allied health professionals Understands quality improvement and research methodology Actively encourages quality improvement and research with junior and other staff Commitment to continuing personal development and medical education

Desirable

Involvement in formal undergraduate and post graduate education Published or submitted research/quality improvement Experience in Clinical governance and clinical audit
