We are looking for Senior Perinatal Practitioner (Social Worker) to cover Trust wide Perinatal Service which consists of 3 teams (Northwest in Chertsey, Southwest in Godalming and East in Epsom).
You'll be a core member of the multi-disciplinary team and will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care needs of the women accessing the service and lead the care for a specified caseload, primarily in the East Team. You'll mentor, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students.
Main duties of the job
Identify and provide advice/initial assessment of women where a referral to children and families social services may be appropriate.
Act as liaison/interface between perinatal mental health/maternity services and Children and Families Social Services department.
Facilitate access to relevant information, such as previous history with Children and Family Social Services/lead on MASH or MARAC referrals/cases.
Implement and provide necessary interventions to improve a woman's level of functioning and to promote the safety and wellbeing of the infant.
To provide consultation and support to staff within the perinatal mental health team around child safeguarding and child protection matters including domestic abuse, substance use and impact of family system on mental health.

Qualifications Essential
Social Work England Qualification to degree level/post graduate diploma E.g. PGDip Social Work or BA Social Work Driving licence suitable for use in the United Kingdom
Desirable
Additional qualifications as Approved Mental Health Practitioner, Best Interest Assessor or Practice Educator
Experience Essential
Substantial experience of managing a busy caseload or service users with a range of mental health conditions Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment Professional Knowledge gained through a degree in Social Work or equivalent with relevant mental health and/or children's social work experience Substantial experience post qualification in mental health and/or safeguarding children's including experience of providing supervision
Desirable
Experience of evidence-based interventions for use with mothers and babies, for example Video Interactive Guidance or specialist training such as Family Intervention Training to provide ongoing support within the wider family context Recent experience of perinatal mental health practice and/or safeguarding children practice
