A valuable opportunity is available for an experienced Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join a supportive and well-established team. This is a permanent post, based at Glangwili General Hospital, in Carmarthen and travel to other sites for clinical duties is expected.

Main duties of the job

Supervision of all admissions to the Wards, Clinical investigation, diagnosis and treatment of all patients admitted to Obstetrics & Gynaecology Wards well as assisting the Consultants in running the Outpatient Clinics.

The post holder will participate in regular audit meetings and postgraduate teaching sessions held by the appropriate Consultants.

You will be required to work in close cooperation and liaison with colleagues both within and outside of the organisation, as appropriate, in multi professional and multidisciplinary team environments.

Maintaining a high standard of note-keeping

Communication with other staff. Presentations at weekly and clinical case conferences, carrying out audits and involvement in teaching junior staff and other professionals.

Person Specification

Clinical Governance Essential

oParticipation in clinical audit (or quality improvement project) and understanding role of audit in improving medical practice

Desirable

oKnowledge of risk management. oKnowledge of annual job planning/appraisal review process.

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

oFull GMC Registration and Licence to Practice. oValid Certified Advanced Life Support.

Desirable

oAdditional clinical qualification(s). oEvidence of working towards membership of the Royal College.

Experience Essential

oShall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty; or shall have equivalent experience and competencies. oAble to demonstrate core competencies and clinical skills relevant to the post.
