Job summary
An opportunity has arisen in the West Midlands Cancer Alliance for a Programme Manager to join this dynamic, high profile and busy teamon a permanent basis to provide professional expertise to lead and enable delivery of the West Midlands Cancer Alliance Delivery Plan; overseeing Programmes that result in improved outcomes for patients. The role will focus on the priority cancer pathways therefore we are seeking individuals with a strong operational and service improvement background in the NHS and preferably cancer services.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead Programmes aligned to the Cancer Alliance Delivery Plan.
- Monitor progress and report within agreed timescales.
- Managing effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, with a particular focus on Providers.
- Lead and develop others in pathway and quality improvement and redesign.
-Oversee engagement with clinical and operational teams to understand the case for change, facilitate the development and delivery of action plans to improve pathway performance and outcomes for patients.

The West Midlands Cancer Alliance team is hosted at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust whilst working across the wider West Midlands footprint. This role requires regular travel visiting provider organisations across the Midlands and attending team corporate days in central Birmingham. Ability to travel across the West Midlands is a key requirement of this job.

Qualifications Essential
Master's Level Qualification or equivalent management experience Programme Management Qualification (Managing Successful Programmes or similar) or equivalent experience or Programme/Quality Improvement experience
Experience and Skills Essential
Senior Operational experience in cancer services, diagnostics or clinical pathways Knowledge of current healthcare policy and current cancer priorities/deliverables Evidence of planning and delivering programmes and projects and services in the NHS on time Experience of building and maintaining effective working relationships between both internal and external stakeholders Highly developed communication skills with the capacity to analyse, review and make sense of highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information across a diverse range of subjects relevant to post portfolio Extensive experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines whilst also directing the work of teams / individual
