Job summary
The Service Delivery Manger is accountable to the Head of Cancer Services to support the effective and efficient operational management of Cancer Services, ensuring delivery of high quality services within the resources available.
A core aspect of the role will be supporting Management Team in the delivery of all performance targets, including Cancer Waiting Times, finance, service standards/quality and service productivity & efficiency. This will include ensuring effective co-ordination of agreed performance objectives as well as working closely with Clinical Service Leads on business planning and the development and continuous improvement of patient care processes.
In conjunction with the Management Team to ensure that Business, Finance and Performance, Risk Management and Governance are appropriately carried out within the Group. To facilitate staff development and ensure that effective communication systems operate within the areas of responsibility.
Main duties of the job
To provide business and project management support as directed by the management team
Regularly review capacity to ensure there are sufficient levels to deliver targets. Liaising with clinical service leads, ensuring appropriate action is agreed to ensure that targets are achieved.
Provide general managerial advice and guidance throughout areas of responsibility.
To line manage defined groups of staff and be responsible for the function of the areas managed.
To ensure that all relevant Trust policies and procedures governing the management of staff are effectively implemented and adhered to.
To regularly engage with staff to review how effective they are working as a team, seeking input on how things could be done better and more effectively.
Provide management support to develop, implement and monitor service delivery arrangements and assist in developing business plans for the service
To support and lead on service improvement initiatives with Clinicians and Health Care Professionals as instructed.
Develop business plans/cases for the Group, as required.
To identify opportunities to generate additional income or to reduce expenditure.
Dealing with all aspects of line management including sickness absence, appraisal, disciplinary, capability, recruitment, and retention. To offer advice on matters of sensitivity and discretion.
