We are looking for a Nurse with advanced clinical skills to join our team as the Practice Development Nurse.
As the Practice Development Nurse you will provide stable guidance and advice to the entire team in the development of skills around the department, whilst ensuring the statutory training is provided to staff throughout the year.
You will work within Children's Services providing a progressive learning environment for all nursing staff to develop and enhance knowledge and skills in clinical practice to improve patient safety and experience.
You will lead on, support and coordinate the development of pre and post registration nurses and healthcare assistants by coordinating educational activities and assessments of learning within the service.
Main duties of the job
To lead in the implementation of evidenced based practice through the development of the clinical skills of individual practitioners
To develop and lead on the implementation of training programmes to ensure attainment of required clinical skills for children's registered and nonregistered workforce participating in the implementation of the clinical competency framework
Co-ordinates and provides direct clinical support, education and mentoring to staff to develop competence in clinical practice in order to drive forward quality
Supports and facilitates the development of clinical practise mentors; provides supervision and support structures liaising with external providers
To provide best practice advise in clinical settings to support governance and influence the safety and experience of children / young people and their families

Person Specification
Experience/Knowledge Essential
Proven Band 6 experience in acute clinical setting Knowledge and experience in children's nursing Experience in teaching, mentoring and assessment Previous experience of implementing change in clinical practice/ understanding of issues pertaining to change management An understanding of educational programmes, policies and procedures that apply to students Awareness of post registration training Awareness and understanding of national and specialist health issues pertaining to childrens services such as NSF, every Child Matters, NHS Plan
Qualifications Essential
Registered Children's Nurse First degree or equivalent study / experience relevant to specialism Evidence of continuing professional development Mentorship/assessing qualification
