Job summary
Do you want to help lead a fast-paced dynamic team at the forefront of Emergency medicine in one of the most beautiful areas of the country? Due to promotion within the department opportunities have arisen for the right candidate to work as a Deputy Sister or Deputy Charge Nurse within the Emergency Department at Poole.
There is 24/7 Sister cover in ED so the Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse will be supported in their role & will be working alongside a Sister/Charge Nurse who has ultimate responsibility for the department.
The applicant must have two years' experience within an Emergency Department and demonstrable clinical acumen.
Please note: if this post requires you to have a DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the role, on appointment you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed from your salary
This role requires: NMC Registration/ Diploma or Degree in Adult or Paediatric Nursing
Base Location: Poole Hospital (with expectation to work cross site when required)

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for flow through the Emergency Department and the Urgent Treatment Centre, providing rapid assessment of the patients on their arrival both via ambulance and walk-ins. They will also be expected to take part in management of staff on shift, development of staff and also would be expected to be an exemplar of good clinical practice within ED.

This service has a planned move from Poole to Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Summer 2026.
