Job summary

There is an opportunity to join an existing team on a fixed term appointment with possible extension and permanent post at the end of 18 months.

The post holder will support the Oral and Maxillofacial Consultants in the Outpatient Clinics and treat patients under local and general anaesthesia. The post holder will be responsible to the Oral and Maxillofacial Consultants and through them to the Clinical Director

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the departmental consultants providing high quality healthcare to Oral and Maxillofacial surgical patients (consultation and treatment). They will maintain good communication with all Oral and Maxillofacial Consultants.

They will be involved in the care on inpatients and outpatients including the management of head and neck cancer and patients. The department has access to main theatre, day case theatre and Minor Oral Surgery lists and the candidate will play an active part in delivering all elements of the service. Every effort will be made to tailor the post to both the educational needs and interests of the successful candidate.

Person Specification

OMFS Specialty Doctor Essential

BDS or equivalent Dental qualification Full Registration with GDC or GMC A minimum of 2 years experience at DCT level or equivalent. Good record keeping General dentistry and oral surgery skills Basic life support skills
