Job summary
The post-holder will have day to day responsibility for managing elective waiting lists. Key responsibilities include constant liaison with Consultant medical staff, patients, General Practitioners, external bodies, ward staff and theatre staff. The post-holder will maintain and validate active and suspended waiting lists ensuring that patients are admitted within guaranteed admission dates. In addition the post-holder will be aware and adhere to the waiting list policies and procedures for the effective management of the waiting lists.
It is expected that staff will be able to demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising their workload and in taking decisions and action within clearly defined limits.
To ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Main duties of the job
To co-ordinate the day to day management and maintenance of the inpatient/day case waiting lists in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and Endoscopy Booking
To book day cases and procedures undertaken in endoscopy, within given guidelines ensuring the national and local targets
To replace cancellations, as and when necessary, with like for like cases or within guidelines provided, whilst taking into account the national targets
Dealing with all patients enquires regarding cancellations and rescheduling
To contact the patients and agree a convenient date for their admission, in line with booked policy
Liaise with clinicians regarding appropriate scheduling of patients such as case mix together with other key information to ensure the full utilisation of procedure.

To accurately in-put, up-date and monitor patient related information onto the computerised Patient Administration System and endoscopy booking diary
To report and keep records of patient cancelled on the day of procedure to ensure the patient is re-dated within the national target.
To scan and upload reports onto patient records as well as ensuring copies are sent to consultants and General Practitioners
To cover colleagues annual leave and sickness
Keep up to date with mandatory training
To undertake necessary training for role
