About this role

Job summary

To provide comprehensive and efficient supervision of the administration function within Acute Children's Services.

To ensure the service is sufficiently staffed, 365 days per year, throughout the services operating hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

The postholder will be required to work shifts within the services operating hours on a rostered basis and may be required to backfill and cover shifts at short notice from time to time due to instances such as unplanned leave and unexpected absence.

The postholder will be required to demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising their own workload and taking decisions and actions.

To provide effective contribution and ownership to support the delivery of the organisations objectives.

Main duties of the job

To complete regular one to ones, appraisals and team meetings to help set clear goals and create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.

To process, review, approve and record staff annual leave requests.

Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the role and participate in appropriate training activities and support development and training needs.

To manage staff absence and sickness in accordance with the Trust's sickness policy by monitoring and exploring reasons for absence in a supportive manner.

To work closely with the Directorate Management Team to ensure consistency of services, processes and best practice across Children's Services.

To ensure strong and robust communication of processes between all colleagues within the service as needed, via various communication channels.

Job description Job responsibilities

To provide administrative support to the Acute Children's Services team, to include all administrative procedures and documentation associated with a patients attendance/admission to hospital.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Good standard of education including Maths and English above grade C or above

Desirable

NVQ Level 3 Administration or equivalent experience/knowledge

Experience Essential

Organisational skills and ability to prioritise own workload. Experience of using Microsoft packages

Desirable

Previous line management experience
