Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Emergency Department Administrator to join the ULCH Emergency Department Team!We would like to hear from people who enjoy interacting with the public and are passionate about delivering customer service to a high standard in a busy, high pressure and dynamic environment.This key role will provide the first point of contact for members of the public attended the emergency department. The role involves booking and registering patients at either the adults or paediatric reception desks or providing general patient support and admin support across the department.The post holder will be expected to work independently making decisions using their own initiative to help ensure the flow of patients coming into the emergency department.If you are an individual that is looking for a fast-paced challenge in a testing environment, we look forward to hearing from you.We are a 24-hour service, 365 days a year and staff will be expected to work a shift pattern including weekends and nights.
Main duties of the job
- Registering patients on the electronic patient record system, effectively and efficiently- Assisting and supporting including cross covering other members of the administrative team across the department including dealing with telephone calls and resolving simple enquires for patients, their carers and visitors.- Carry out designated administrative tasks to support the wider Emergency Department- Provide an excellent patient service to all patients attending the Emergency Department

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications Essential
a.Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including Grade C or higher in English
Desirable
b.NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare, Customer Care of Business Admin or equivalent
Experience Essential
Demonstrable knowledge of administrative procedures at a high level of competence acquired through both training and experience Proven experience of working in an office environment (Front of house roll)

Previous NHS or healthcare experience
Skills and Abilities Essential
Able to deal with the public in person and on the phone Able to support and reassure patients/carers in distress e. Understands importance of maintaining confidentiality Competent with software programmes including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint
