Job summary
Senior Assistant Technical Officer - Procurement & QA Support
To act as a member of the Pharmacy team, undertaking a full range of duties, to contribute to the provision of a quality Pharmacy service, under the direction and supervision of the Procurement Manager.
To accurately process orders for medications with Manufacturers and Wholesalers where applicable. Ensure documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately. To liaise with the Procurement Manager regarding out of stocks, non-contract and supplier issues.
To carry out under the direction, control and, where necessary, the direct supervision of a Senior Pharmacy Technician or suitable qualified person, the dispensing of inpatient, outpatient, community unit, self-medication wallets, discharge medication (TTOs), controlled drugs (CDs) against previously clinically checked prescriptions, the receipt, stock control and supply of medicines both within Pharmacy and to wards.
To assist the Medicines Management Team and QA maintain standards for correct storage of medicines.
The post holder will be expected to attain the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services within twelve months of taking up the post.
The post holder will be expected to work Bank Holidays and participate in the late clinic and weekend rota.
This is mainly an office based role.
Main duties of the job
To accurately process orders ensuring that contract lines have been ordered where applicable.
Assist with making sure all information is updated on the computer system with the current contracts.
To place orders with Manufacturers and Wholesalers electronically using a web based ordering system, by email or phone.
To pass invoices and credit notes promptly and investigate, rectify or report any discrepancies immediately.
To ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and filed appropriately, and that filing systems are kept up to date and in good order.
To liaise with the Procurement Manager regarding out of stocks, non-contract and supplier issues.
The postholder will be expected to work Bank Holidays and participate in the late clinic and weekend rota.
To respond to notifications of Logtag alerts from the Medicines Management team, collect information and act on the advice given by them if necessary.
To monitor Logtags kept within the Pharmacy Department and other storage areas to maintain the standards of the MHRA, escalating any issues.
This is mainly an office based role but there will be some time worked in the Dispensary covering late clinics and weekends.
