About this role

Job summary

Powys Teaching Health Board is seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Counsellor (band 6) to join the Local Primary Mental Health Service (LPMHSS) on a fulltime permanent basis.

The post holder will deliver high quality evidence-based counselling interventions to adults experiencing mild to moderate or and stable severe but stable mental health difficulties.

The role is integrated into a multi-disciplinary team delivering brief psychological interventions (6-10 sessions).

The successful applicant will be a qualified Accredited Counsellor/ Psychotherapist ideally with experience of working within NHS and Primary Care Mental Health settings with a strong commitment to Recovery focussed Person-Centred care.

Main duties of the job

Carry a comprehensive clinical caseload, providing relational based, person-centred intervention plansinformed by professional Counselling/Psychotherapy knowledge. o Deliver face to face clinics from one or more of the LPMHSS Hub locations, in addition to virtual clinics via video consultation platforms. o Attend team meetings and multi-disciplinary clinical meetings about individual service users. o Maintain an Outlook diary for all clinical activity and work with the Team Lead and administrative team to work in accordance with a personalised job plan. o Manage, plan and prioritise daily workload, including managing own clinical caseload in accordance with own individualjob plan and with the support of the line manager and clinical supervisor. oAttend meetings relevant to the post, including triage/screening meetings. oEngage in regular specialist clinical supervision from an appropriately qualified and experienced clinical supervisor.

Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Family & Systemic Psychotherapist - Professional Accreditation with BACP, UKCP or equivalent Knowledge of formulation, intervention planning, and delivering brief evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions Knowledge and understanding of Local Primary Mental Health Support Services/Primary Care Mental Health Training in risk assessment and risk management

Desirable

Training in providing clinical supervision Evidence of further training in psychological interventions and/or therapeutic interventions WARRN training Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health Legislation in Wales Additional Training and qualifications in: o Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and/or Family Therapy and/or Psychotherapy and/or working with trauma and/or Psychosocial Interventions and/or Counselling and/or Dementia and/or Group Therapies and/ or Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and/or other evidence-based brief psychological interventions

Experience Essential

Post qualification / accreditation experience working in a Mental Health setting delivering brief interventions, including experience of working with people who experience significant barriers to care (marginalised groups) Demonstrable experience of working in mental health Meeting agreed/specified service targets Managing own caseload and time and of working independently Demonstrates high standards in all forms of communication Leading change, service improvement initiatives and/or other service development Evidence of supporting daily living, community networking, health promotion and an understanding of the Recovery Model
