Doncaster Royal Infirmary - Theatres
Hours of work are37.5 hours per week, worked flexibly to meet service needs. Following a period of training, there will be a requirement to support the service without-of-hours, weekend, and on-call commitments.
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our well-established teams. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to deliveringhigh-quality, individualised, patient-centred care.
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be responsible for delivering the highest standard ofholistic patient care, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team.

What We Are Looking For
Level 2 Intermediate Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship(or equivalent),ora minimum of12 months' experienceworking as a Healthcare Assistant Completion of the Care Certificate, or a willingness to complete this within3 months of commencing employment Clinical skills and competencies relevant to the department. (Applicants who do not yet hold these competencies may be appointed as aBand 2 Trainee Healthcare Assistant, with progression toBand 3upon successful completion of training) Individuals who can demonstratematurity, reliability, and flexibility, and who are highly motivated, enjoy a challenge, andthrive in a busy team environment A strong commitment toco-operative team working at all time
Main duties of the job
To provide compassionate patient care while meeting all care needs. Carry out delegated clinical and non-clinical duties under the registered practitioner's direction. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies and procedures. Always uphold patient and staff confidentiality. Ensure informed consent is obtained before treatment. Report all accidents and incidents to the Team Leader. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records. Ensure theatre cleanliness and hygiene in line with infection control, Health and Safety policies. Handle equipment correctly, ensuring it is safe and reporting any defects

Person Specification
Knowledge & Experience Essential
Experience of working in a care setting providing personal care. Knowledge and understanding of current healthcare issues. Basic computer skills.
Desirable
Experience of working in an acute hospital setting Experience of supporting junior staff or trainees.
Qualifications & Training Essential
Level 2 intermediate Health Care Support Worker Apprenticeship (or equivalent qualifications). Or minimum of 1 years healthcare experience in a theatre environment Care Certificate (or willing to complete within 3 months of starting)
Desirable
GCSE Maths & English or equivalent. Level 3 Advanced Senior Health Care Support Worker Apprenticeship or equivalent level of competence which can be demonstrated by knowledge and skills gained from experience and competency-based training. Ability to undertake a range of clinical skills as required, including: o Venepuncture o Cannulation o Vital Signs o Blood Glucose Monitoring o ECG o Removal of Catheter o Bladder Scanning
Personal Attributes & Skills Essential
Be able to demonstrate good communication skills, work within the multidisciplinary team. Well-motivated, genuine desire to care for people and ability to manage self Must be able to work within a team. Support and assist in the safe and effective delivery service provision Able to manage and prioritise own workload.
Desirable
Demonstrate enthusiasm, motivation, accept and support changes within the role/service Ability to record and report relevant information regarding patient needs and assist in the formulation of their care planning.
