Knowledge of Materials Troubleshooting National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Major DutiesYou will serve as a Powered Support Equipment Repairer and be responsible for assisting in maintaining and repairing standard internal combustion and electrically powered Aviation Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) including gasoline, electrical, and diesel engines and associated sub-systems such as mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and electronically controlled systems. You will also be responsible for maintaining and repairing aviation fuel distribution systems and associated mobile equipment. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Performing standard, repetitive preventative maintenance, and/or minor repairs on all Aviation Ground Support Equipment such as tow tractors, auxiliary [power units, fuel vehicles, firefighting equipment, trucks and other support equipment.. Cleaning, repairing, or replacing defective parts or components on all equipment. Using a variety of test equipment to perform visual and auditory inspections to check for worn or poorly adjusted parts.. Utilizing vehicle on-board computers to help diagnose problems, and electronic analyzers to test computer control systems and emission systems Performing all required tests during the receipt of fuel deliveries and unloading of aviation jet fuel from a tanker truck into the fuel farm, supplying fuel to aircraft refueling vehicles, and ensuring the delivery of clean, dry fuel in accordance with regulatory procedures.RequirementsAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
