Job summary
We are seeking experienced Healthcare Assistants to support NHS Lothian's Dermatology Outpatient Service at the Lauriston Building in Edinburgh. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assist in the delivery of high-quality patient care, helping to ensure clinics run efficiently while providing a positive experience for patients attending dermatology appointments.
Main duties of the job
Supporting clinicians in dermatology outpatient and minor operations clinics.Assisting with patient preparation before procedures and consultations.Performing phlebotomy duties as required.Supporting minor surgical procedures and ensuring patient comfort throughout treatment.Maintaining accurate and timely patient records.Ensuring high standards of infection prevention and control are followed.Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to support effective service delivery.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dermatology Healthcare Assistant to support NHS Lothian's Dermatology Outpatient Service based at the Lauriston Building in Edinburgh.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care within a busy outpatient environment. You will work closely with Dermatology Nurses, Senior Dermatology Leads and other healthcare professionals to ensure clinics run efficiently and patients receive a positive experience throughout their care journey.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting patients attending dermatology appointments, assisting clinical staff during consultations, preparing and maintaining clinical areas, and ensuring accurate patient documentation is completed. You will also help facilitate patient flow throughout clinic sessions while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality and patient care.
This position is well suited to a Healthcare Assistant with previous outpatient or Dermatology clinical experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering high-quality care.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
- Previous Dermatology or Skin Services experience. -Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a clinical or healthcare setting. -Experience supporting clinicians within outpatient or patient-facing services. -Confident in providing direct patient care and support. -Strong communication and interpersonal skills. -Ability to maintain accurate patient records and follow clinical protocols. -Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. -Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. - PVG in place (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
-Phlebotomy skills. -Availability for regular weekend working and long-term commitment.
