We are looking for a reliable and motivated Vasectomy Surgical Assistant (HCA) to support our clinical team during local anaesthetic vasectomy clinics. Main duties of the job

Job description Job responsibilities
The Vasectomy Surgical Assistant (Healthcare Assistant) will support the safe and effective delivery of vasectomy clinics, working alongside clinicians and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post holder will help ensure a high standard of patient care throughout the patient journey while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient clinical environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing treatment rooms, equipment, instruments and consumables prior to clinic sessions.Assisting clinicians during vasectomy procedures in line with local policies and protocols.Supporting patients before, during and after procedures, ensuring privacy, dignity and comfort at all times.Undertaking patient observations and reporting any concerns to the clinical team.Maintaining infection prevention and control standards, including cleaning and decontamination processes.Ensuring clinical areas remain stocked and organised throughout clinics.Assisting with accurate record keeping and documentation as required.Managing clinical waste and sharps safely in accordance with organisational policies.Escalating any patient safety, safeguarding or clinical concerns appropriately.Contributing to a positive team environment and supporting continuous service improvement.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Minimum 1 years' experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a theatre, day surgery, minor procedures, or outpatient surgical setting. Experience assisting clinicians during surgical or invasive procedures. Experience preparing clinical rooms, equipment and consumables for procedures. Experience working within a sterile environment and adhering to infection prevention and control standards. Experience supporting patients before, during and after procedures. Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Desirable
Desirable Experience Experience supporting vasectomy, urology, men's health, dermatology, endoscopy, or other minor surgical services. Experience maintaining sterile fields and assisting with aseptic techniques. Experience undertaking and recording patient observations. Experience working within NHS insourcing, waiting list initiative (WLI), or high-volume surgical services. Care Certificate and relevant clinical competencies.
