About the Role
We are seeking experienced Endoscopy Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to join our team and support an Endoscopy service on the Isle of Wight.
This is a locum weekend opportunity, working Saturdays and Sundays, supporting patients throughout their endoscopy pathway. You will work closely with the nursing and clinical team to provide high-quality patient care before, during and after procedures, while helping to ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the service.
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of Endoscopy HCA experience gained within the last year in a UK healthcare setting. This is an essential requirement for the role.
Travel and accommodation will be provided, with travel to the Isle of Wight likely to take place on Friday evenings.
Main duties of the job
The Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will support patients throughout their endoscopy journey, working closely with the nursing and clinical team. Main duties include preparing and admitting patients, taking baseline observations, assisting with patient positioning, chaperoning, supporting staff during procedures, preparing rooms between cases, transporting patients and providing basic care and observations during recovery.

As an Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Admitting and preparing patients for endoscopy proceduresChecking patient documentation and completing baseline observationsChaperoning patients and maintaining their privacy, dignity and comfortAssisting with the safe positioning of patients for proceduresSupporting Endoscopy Nurses and the wider clinical team during procedures, within your scope of practicePreparing procedure rooms and equipment between casesCleaning and preparing patient trolleys between proceduresTransporting and accompanying patients to and from procedure and recovery areasSupporting patients during recovery, including carrying out observations, providing refreshments and assisting with basic careFollowing infection prevention and control proceduresCommunicating effectively with patients and members of the multidisciplinary teamSupporting the efficient and safe running of the Endoscopy service
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Essential Minimum of 1 years experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within an Endoscopy setting This experience must have been gained within the last year in a UK healthcare setting Experience supporting patients before, during and after Endoscopy procedures Experience completing baseline patient observations Experience with patient admission, preparation and recovery Experience assisting the clinical team with patient positioning and chaperoning Experience working within a busy multidisciplinary clinical team Good understanding of infection prevention, patient safety, dignity and confidentiality Please note: Candidates who do not have at least 1 year of recent Endoscopy HCA experience within the last year will not be considered for this role
