Senior Clinical Scientist (Band 7), Permanent, 37.5 hours per weekThe Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust (CCC) is seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Scientist to provide physics support to the radiotherapy department.CCC has a large physics department with over 30 clinical scientists involved in the provision of support to either Imaging or Radiotherapy (including low-energy proton therapy), or in academic research. The department has a close working relationship with the Physics Department at the University of Liverpool with whom we collaborate to provide an MSc course in Clinical Science (Medical Physics) as part of the Health Education England's Scientist Training Programme.
Main duties of the job
The wide range of equipment and different clinical techniques at CCC provides an ideal opportunity to gain a broad experience in all aspects of radiotherapy including brachytherapy and low energy proton treatments. Flexibility exists for staff to become involved in specialist topics, subject to departmental priorities. Physicists are committed to flexible working practices to meet the needs of the service. We are seeking a physicist who is either a State Registered Clinical Scientist or expects to become registered in the near future. Candidates not yet registered may be appointed at a lower Band or Annex U until registration achieved. You will need to be well motivated and be able to contribute to the continued service provision and development.

Qualifications/Education Essential
HCPC registered Clinical Scientist BSc (Hons) Physics or equivalent MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent
Knowledge and Ecpertise Essential
Specialist knowledge in radiation physics applied to medicine Specialist knowledge of the techniques employed to measure the performance of a range of radiotherapy equipment Knowledge of radiation protection legislation in healthcare and biomedical research Evidence of relevant CPD and developing scientific practice Awareness of national standards, professional and other guidelines relevant to the specialist area
Experience Essential
Experience in the use of ionising radiation in medical physics Experience of performing quality control performance tests in radiotherapy Understanding of patient and staff risks arising from radiation exposure and of image quality requirements for a range of radiotherapy procedures
