The role of the Corporate Governance Officer is central to supporting the Associate Director of Corporate Governance in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the corporate governance function in addition to leading the implementation of robust corporate governance across the Trust, its subsidiary companies and joint ventures.
The post holder acts as a senior administrator leading the administration of Trust Board and related Committees and subsidiaries. The post holder will support the Associate Director of Corporate Governance to ensure that the Trust operates in accordance with statutory and legal provisions and that the Trust benefits from high quality and progressive business administration and governance practices by providing specialist advice in order to improve Trust processes.
Main duties of the job
Ensure the meetings of the Trust including the Council of Governors, Committees, and subsidiary companies adhere to the required standards and controls, whilst providing advice and support to staff in order to understand and achieve expectations on standards and reporting. Maintain systems by which forward actions and decisions of the Council of Governors, associated Committees and subsidiary companies are progressed. Take the lead on the Declarations of Interests process by reviewing the Register of interests, Register of Gifts, Hospitality and Sponsorship in line with national guidance and other relevant matters relating to standards of business conduct and escalating matters as appropriate.

Qualifications Essential
Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area. Keyboard skills to RSA/OCR level III or equivalent Excellent standard of literacy, grammar, spelling and numeracy
Desirable
Project and / or programme management qualification or experience (PRINCE2, MSP)
Knowledge and Expertise Essential
Sound understanding of governance issues related to corporate activities of a statutory organisation Awareness of NHS confidentiality guidance
