Job summary
The Practice Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality, safe and compassionate nursing care to patients within the GP practice setting. The postholder will work as part of the wider clinical team to support the delivery of effective, patient-centred care, health promotion, chronic disease management, preventative screening and treatment room services.
The role requires a professional, organised and proactive nurse who can work independently within their scope of practice while contributing positively to the wider practice team
Main duties of the job
Key duties include:
Providing general nursing care, treatment and advice to patients in accordance with practice protocols and clinical guidelines Undertaking long-term condition reviews, including areas such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension and cardiovascular disease, depending on experience and competency Carrying out cervical screening, immunisations, vaccinations, wound care, other treatment room procedures Supporting health promotion, lifestyle advice, prevention work and patient education Assisting with infection prevention and control processes across the practice Maintaining accurate, timely and confidential patient records using the practice clinical system Working closely with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Health Care Assistants, pharmacists and administrative colleagues to support safe and effective patient care Participating in clinical audits, quality improvement work and practice recall systems where required Ensuring compliance with NHS regulations, safeguarding requirements, data protection, confidentiality and professional standards Managing workload effectively and escalating concerns appropriately to the clinical or management team Qualifications
Essential:
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration Evidence of continuing professional development Appropriate clinical competencies for the role Understanding of professional accountability, confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities

The Spinney Medical Centre was founded in 1994 and merged with Eccleston Medical Centre in 2016 forming the Spinney Group. Our mission is to To provide high quality, current and accessible primary care to our patients and to be a thoughtful and professional employer.
We are passionate about education & both practices are learning environments to many roles such as GPs, Nurses, PAs and Pharmacists. Each of the 5 partners are GP Trainers and all our team members are encouraged to supervise, mentor and teach the future general practice workforce. Additionally, we are very proud to host the Training Hub for Mid Mersey who are responsible for the education and development of the current and future primary care workforce.
The Team
The 5 partners are Dr Steve Cox, Dr Sue Hyde, Dr Claire Clarke, Dr Claire Fletcher and Dr Stewart Hale.Additionally we have a Strategic Manager, and Operational Business Manager, 2 Deputy Managers, 8 Salaried GPs, 3 Nurses (of which you will be replacing 1), 2 Nurse Associates and one Advanced Nurse Practitioner and commissioned pharmacy support from Ashburton Prescribing. We also have Patient Care Advisors and other roles who are provided by our PCN.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, approachable and patient-focused nurse who is able to provide high standards of care in a busy general practice environment. They will be confident working independently, while also recognising the importance of teamwork, communication and safe clinical escalation.
