Job summary

Are you interested in working within the cardiorespiratory departments at York Hospital, Askham Barr Community Diagnostic Centre and Selby CDC

We are looking for someone with an interest in Cardiology, ECGs and a passion for helping others. The job will mostly include the fitting of ECG monitors, with some exposure to ambulatory BP monitors and 12 lead ECG. The successful candidate will work at Askham Bar, Selby CDC and York Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Prepare patients and perform 12 lead ECG in accordance with SCST specifications and recommendations. Fit and remove Ambulatory ECG and BP monitors, providing the patient with clear instructions and advice relating to the period of monitoring and documenting of symptoms. Deliver first class patient care, ensuring patients are welcomed in a professional manner, explaining the procedure as required. Recognise waveforms and abnormalities on an ECG. Recognise normal and abnormal BP measurements. Assist in the smooth flow of clinical and administrative work within the clinic. Help train student Cardiac Physiologists in the above duties.

Person Specification

Experience and Qualifications Essential

Previous NHS experience within a multi disciplinary environment. Knowledge of Cardio-Respiratory investigations Certificate in Electrocardiography (or working towards)

Special Skills / Aptitude Essential

Ability to communicate sensitive information in a variety of forms to patients, relatives, and carers. IT literate
