Job summary
The Dove Medical Practice is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive primary care team.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and who can work effectively within a busy general practice environment. Applicants must have previous experience working within general practice or be currently enrolled on the Fundamentals of Primary Care Nursing Programme.
The successful candidate will provide a range of nursing services including chronic disease management, cervical cytology, immunisations, wound care, health promotion, and other treatment room duties appropriate to their level of competence and training.

Job description Job responsibilities
The Practice Nurse will support the delivery of high-quality, safe and effective care to the registered patient population, working within professional competence and in line with national and local guidance.
Clinical DutiesUndertake chronic disease reviews including asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease as appropriate to competency.Deliver cervical cytology screening in accordance with national guidance.Administer vaccinations and immunisations under Patient Specific Directions (PSDs) or Patient Group Directions (PGDs).Provide wound care, dressings, suture removal and management of minor injuries within competence.Undertake NHS Health Checks and other screening programmes.Perform routine observations and clinical assessments including blood pressure monitoring, ECGs and venepuncture where trained.Promote healthy lifestyle choices and support patients in self-management of long-term conditions.Identify and act upon safeguarding concerns in accordance with practice policies.Patient CareAssess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.Provide evidence-based advice and education to patients and carers.Ensure patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality are maintained at all times.Escalate concerns regarding patient care appropriately.Administrative DutiesMaintain accurate, contemporaneous and legally compliant clinical records using EMIS Web.Support recall systems and screening programmes.Process clinical correspondence and actions relating to nursing services where appropriate.Contribute to the achievement of QOF and other contractual requirements.

Skills and Knowledge Essential
Competence in Practice Nurse clinical skills (e.g. wound care, ECG, venepuncture, immunisations, new patient checks, womens health including cervical cytology and contraception) Ability to request pathology tests and manage results, including patient communication
