Are you looking for a rewarding role where your work directly impacts patient safety and clinical care? Our HSDU team is expanding, and we're looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join us as Junior Decontamination Technicians.
This is an excellent opportunity to start or grow a career within NHS Wales in a highly specialised and essential service.
As a Junior Decontamination Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that reusable medical devices -- including surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes -- are cleaned, disinfected, inspected, packed, sterilised, and tracked to the highest standard.
You'll work alongside experienced Technicians and Supervisors and receive full training to build confidence and competence in all areas of decontamination practice.
The working hours for this post are 14:00 - 22:00, Monday - Friday.
Main duties of the job
Daily duties will include:
Receiving, disassembling, cleaning, disinfecting, and reassembling reusable medical devices Preparing, packaging, and sterilising surgical instrument trays Processing endoscopes in line with departmental protocols Using specialist equipment, including washers, sterilisers and automated endoscope reprocessors Completing tracking and traceability of equipment Supporting stock rotation and reporting shortages Communicating with theatres, wards, endoscopy, and other clinical areas to ensure smooth service delivery Working as an essential part of a supportive, skilled team
