Job summary
To join a team that provides comprehensive consultant-based patient-centred management of General Surgical and benign upper GI conditions and diagnosis of malignant upper GI disease. To participate in the General Surgery emergency on call rota. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to a consultant led service. The appointee will be expected to share responsibility for the delivery of high-quality care to the patients presenting to the Department. To provide on call support out of hours.

To participate in the General Surgery emergency on call rota
The post-holder will be expected to contribute to a consultant led service.
The appointee will be expected to share responsibility for the delivery of high quality care to the patients presenting to the Department To provide on call support out of hours. To attend the Department out of hours as per agreed protocols. To remain contactable and available when on call To carry out ward rounds To participate in the undergraduate teaching programme
To assist and participate with the development of postgraduate training for F1s, F2s, SpRs, STs and other staff as appropriate
Where agreed, to act as Educational Supervisor to junior and middle grade medical staff, being responsible for their appraisal and personal development planning.

Job description Job responsibilities
The general clinical duties would be shared on an equal basis with the present Consultants and include all duties normally expected in the management of surgical patients. Duties will be based at Stepping Hill and possibly Buxton Cottage Hospital. Where the post holder is required to travel between sites, clinic times are adjusted to allow for travel.
Indicative Job plan
The contract will be offered at 11 PAs + 3% On call supplement.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
