Job summary
We are seeking a friendly, organised and reliable Medical Receptionist to join our busy and supportive GP practice team. This is a patient-facing role at the heart of our practice, providing high-quality reception and administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of services.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a calm and professional manner, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Main duties of the job
Welcoming patients and visitors in a professional and courteous mannerManaging incoming telephone calls and online queriesBooking, amending and cancelling appointments using the clinical systemProcessing prescription requests in line with practice protocolsHandling patient information confidentially and in accordance with GDPRScanning, filing and maintaining accurate recordsLiaising with clinicians and the wider practice teamSupporting administrative tasks to ensure efficient practice operations.

WORKING PATTERN
This role is for a fixed working pattern, working 19 hours per week. Please only apply if you are able to commit to the specific days and times below:
Thursday: 08:00 - 18:00
Friday: 08:00 - 18:00
Person Specification
Experience Essential
- Previous experience in a customer service or receptionist role - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Good IT skills and ability to learn new systems - Ability to prioritise workload and remain calm under pressure - Understanding of confidentiality and data protection
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a GP practice or NHS setting - Knowledge of SystmOne - Understanding of medical terminology
